Sexual Harassement

Has anyone ever been sexually, physically, or emotionally harassed at work? If so what did you do about it, and is it still a problem today?

I'm so stressed right now I just want to cry.

I face sexual harassement on a daily basis it seems. It happens by men and women, both old and young. I get my butt grabbed, told how nice a body part is, told in detail what people want to do to me when alone, etc.

Sure I want to speak up, but I won't. I don't want to loose my job. I don't want anyone else to find out it's me. I have to go to my work daily, despite if I even stop working there. I love my job. I just hate that I'm seen as vulnerable and get picked on.

The other side sucks too. My friend was charged with sexual harassment and both he, and the company had to spend years and a lot of money proving that it was all a lie. Unfortunately, there were no free resources or compensation for him.

Both types of behavior are equally egregious.

I live in the U.S.

I work at a college cafeteria. I've been working there for 3 months. About 3 weeks after I started, the harassment began. There's about 5 people that do it currently. One guy was recently fired for sexual harassment, drugs, etc.

I just don't get it. I'm a nice person to everyone. My fatal flaw may be that I smile too much. I don't flirt with anyone and keep things professional.

It's just that I'm spotted as being vulnerable. I've been to therapy for years to work on assertiveness training. I usually never comment to any harassment besides moving away and keeping a serious look on my face. I don't want to raise a scene, especially in front of customers.

I'm just really upset about one case in particular. The other night a co-worker was telling me how he wanted to take me in the backroom and paddle me. He then started moaning. I want to throw up just thinking about it.

There's a mandatory meeting at my work on sexual harassment coming up. I don't know if I should bring anything up in private afterwards. Everyone knows everyone's business at this place, I just don't want anything getting out.

Hi, people. I don't know how things are in the USA but over here sexual harassment is taken very seriously and there are laws and avenues open to have it dealt with. At the moment it sounds like you are too scared to say anything, hence these people have you where they want you in victim mode. Take back your power, get angry. You go to work to work not to be sport for stupid arrogant people who want to abuse you. They actually don't have that right OK.

First start documenting literally everything dates times, places, conversations, who, when, where. You will see a picture emerge and this evidence will stand you in good stead when you're upset or feeling victimized. It’s easy to lose the big picture of what’s happening.....

Secondly do you belong to a union? If so, get them involved, you can talk to a rep without taking any action and find out exactly what your rights are and what you can do and also what you need to do.

Thirdly and this happened to a friend of mine, carry one of those pocket tape recorders. Julia totally lampooned this guy who had carried out sustained and vile harassment it was shocking truly but she got angry in the end every time he said something she clicked on the pocket recorder said "what was that you said Barry to identify him on the tape then recorded the conversation coupled with her notes it didn't take her long before she had a case no court trial he admitted everything how could he not.... He lost his job and she was awarded damages by the industrial relations commission as a test case.

If you want good luck hope you find resolution and get to keep your job. Although if you decide to leave walking away is not defeat it’s a reality check you don't need to be working in environments where dickheads run the shop.

Yeah sometimes when the work load is very high then it supposed to be mental harassment.
I never get emotionally harassed by anyone.
So i take some rest and start listening music whenever gets tired mentally.
